West Country land produces valuable goods and services. These include agricultural commodities e.g. grain, raw milk, animals, vegetables, fruit and forest products and public goods e.g. biodiversity conservation, flood risk mitigation and leisure and tourism services. There is a long and successful tradition of using local produce to produce regionally associated added-value food products. And tourism and leisure services rely very substantially on the varied landscape character and biodiversity of the land system. Thus there is an existing demand and viable economy for a mix of goods and services.
